Yesterday, the freshmen and we the sophomores had a field trip at the MV Doulos-the world's largest floating book fair. We had only half- day classes because the afternoon time will be for the field trip. We rode on a PUJ which will bring us to the ship. I was very excited, knowing that MV Doulos is only two years younger than the very famous Titanic. When we got up to the vessel, we were amazed because its like a library, there are lots of books. It offers a range of audio materials and books. There are books on medicine, religion, sports, architecture, gardening, spiritual and cooking.Their are also books on business, almanacs, atlas, dictionaries and there's even a translation book. There is a very good section of children's books and books that inspires. After reading and looking some of their books, some of us went outside to buy their ice cream and what we do not know is that we can not go back inside. We did not notice the sign that says once you are already outside the section where they displayed their books you can not go back inside. What we did was we ate our snacks their and read children's books because their's another section outside which they had children's books and cassettes. Our teacher helped us to go back inside by going down and he toured us to the lower deck which they performed. The crews introduced themselves to us and they also prepared games for us. Ther's another school too, the Asian Learning Center or ACL. In the last game that they prepared, they need two volunteers one from ACL and one from our school, UP. In that contest , they need to be active and fast. Because they need to wear the suit, then the life jacket, the helmet and lastly the gloves. It was so funny because our participant was the one who finished first but he was so slow when he removed all those things. In that activity they taught us that all those things were for protection. They taught us about God and they showed us a video about their lives on board.
I guess it would be the last time that it visited Cebu because the ship is very old. I learned that they change their crews every after two years. They needed volunteers even without salary . Its enough for the volunteers to serve the ship for two years and travel all around the world. They gave us religious books like Book Of Hope which contains stories about Jesus Christ. It gives you hope and it inspires you. It encourages you to be a good servant of God. Doulos was recognized as the o;dest active ocean-going passenger by the Guiness Book Of World Records, it would be a grest idea to visit MV Doulos. They will have their International Night on Friday at the Cebu Coliseum. If you have not visited it yet, you should before it leaves on Feb. 19. We had much fun during our visit their. You will see the cooperation of different people from differnt countries at the Mv Doulos. Evan if they have different skin color, language, beliefs and culture they still work together as friends. Visiting Doulos would be like travellind around the world.
